    1. Insertion loss is too high
    Performance: Signal transmission attenuation exceeds the standard value (OM4 usually requires ≤0.3 dB/connection point).

    Possible causes:

    End face contamination (dust, oil stains).

    End face scratches or wear.

    The connector is not fully plugged in or the adapter is not aligned.

    Solution:

    Use fiber cleaning tools (such as dust-free cotton swabs, cleaning pens) to clean the end face.

    Check whether the jumper end face is intact and replace it if necessary.

    Make sure the plug is fully inserted into the adapter and hear a "click".

    2. Return loss does not meet the standard
    Performance: The reflected light signal is too strong, affecting the transmission quality.

    Possible causes:

    Poor end face polishing (such as the APC end face is not at an 8-degree angle).

    The connector type does not match (such as mistakenly using UPC instead of APC).

    Solution:

    Confirm the jumper end face type (OM4 multimode is generally UPC, single mode may require APC).

    Replace a jumper that meets the standard.

    3. Fiber breakage or damage
    Symptom: signal is completely interrupted or intermittently interrupted.

    Possible causes:

    The jumper is over-bent (exceeding the minimum bending radius, OM4 is usually ≥15mm).

    External force squeeze or pull.

    Solution:

    Check whether the jumper has obvious bends or indentations, and replace the damaged jumper.

    Avoid sharp bends when wiring, and use a cable manager to fix it.

    4. Compatibility issues
    Symptom: unstable connection with the device or module.

    Possible causes:

    Device port type does not match (such as LC interface mistakenly inserted into SC adapter).

    Wavelength does not match (OM4 is suitable for 850nm/1300nm, if it is mistakenly used for single-mode 1310nm/1550nm, it will fail).

    Solution:

    Confirm the device interface type and wavelength requirements.

    Use the correct jumper type (multimode OM4 vs. single-mode).

    5. Dispersion or insufficient bandwidth
    Symptom: High bit error rate at high-speed transmission (such as 40G/100G).

    Possible causes:

    The jumper length exceeds the effective bandwidth distance of OM4 (such as 100G BASE-SR4, the maximum is about 150m).

    Mix different grades of optical fiber (such as OM3 and OM4).

    Solution:

    Ensure that the link length is within the OM4 specification range.

    Avoid mixing optical fiber types and use OM4 throughout.

    6. Loose or detached connector
    Symptom: Intermittent signal.

    Possible causes:

    Damage to the LC connector buckle.

    Aging of the adapter.

    Solution:

    Replace the jumper or adapter.

    Choose an LC connector with a dust cover to protect the buckle.
